Leah B. Olson English, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 15, 2022, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Leah was born October 3, 1932, in Basalt, Idaho, to Samuel Enoch Butler and Emily Myrtle Adams Butler, the fourth of six girls. She grew up and attended schools in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School.

On December 28, 1950, she married Clyde L. Olson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They lived in Idaho Falls where they raised their children, Lillian, Steven, Sandra, and Dennis.

On February 2, 1979, she married William Edwin English in Santa Rosa, California. Leah and Bill made their home in Idaho Falls.

Mom was the most gentle and loving mother and grandmother. Others always came first. She always had time for family and friends.

Throughout her life, Mom loved teaching 4-H, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. Mom was a Diversional Therapist at Idaho Falls Consolidated Hospital. She was an Extended Care Specialist, Certified Nurse Aid, personal care provider, and had Development Disability training.

Mom loved doing her ceramics. For many years, she had her own kiln and taught ceramic classes in her basement. Mom loved her sewing and crafts. She always had a new project she was working on. Painting, crocheting or embroidery was always by her chair to pick up and work on while watching TV.

Mom loved camping in Island Park with her parents and family. She loved the smell of pine trees and fresh air.

Mom was the best mother and friend anyone could ever ask for. I will miss her hugs and kisses.

Everyone knows she always told them not to say goodbye . . . “You say good day." Hugs and kisses until we meet again.

Leah is survived by her daughter, Lillian Stumpp of Idaho Falls; son, Steven (Lois) Olson of Idaho Falls; daughter, Sandra (Terry) Olson Boyle of Ammon, ID; son, Dennis (Brenda) Olson of Iona, ID; sister, Brenda (Jerry) Oliver of Nampa, ID; eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Clyde Olson and Bill English; sisters, Lillian Clark, Neva Wilcox, Nora Reader, and Bonnie Farnes.

A Gathering will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
